Character Sketches

Below are some intial sketches for my two characters, I draw a basis for them both and then tried to capture key poses for each, for example Delilah the daffodil's kissing and her giggling. I'm not sure these can be read the easiest just yet and I don't think they are as dramatic/dynamic enough which is all probably due to some lack of knowledge. I have been thinking of ways I could try and get these to come across better and the word plasticine came to mind! I'm going to grab some plasticine/clay or whatever from the uni shop when I can, model the bases of the characters and then manipulate them to help me visualise each pose :)

goto the materials on myUCA/Animation/Storytelling and look at 'How to Draw Cartoons For Animation' and 'Dynamics of the animated drawing' - these should both help you get some more 'rubberised' expressiveness into your drawings.

Nice characters. I can read the expressions and gestures nicely... but a more lumpy, cartoon touch would simplify the drawing of these guys and bring more believablity to the giddy gesture...

Have a look at this :D http://youtu.be/VTuIb7BIFqk
