Life Drawing Returns!

Well life drawing was back this week, to be honest I was dreading getting back to it because it's been too long and thought my hand was rusty from not doing it, turns out I was wrong though! =) This week we focused on expressing the poses which was highly appropriate for this unit, also practicing foreshortening which I was really happy about because it's something I struggle with especially with the human figure.

Trying to show the expression of the pose rather than focusing on the figure details in some warm up sketches. Chris said that the model moves with elegance so it would do well to try and capture this.

Foreshadowing of the model lying down, I decided to sit on the floor and work on the easel from there. I actually felt better doing this and seemed to be more acurate so I think I will do this a lot more often. I was really pleased with this drawing because I think the foreshortening worked, the only issue is the detailed foot which I think is a bit too small.

Artist: Chris Collingwood

Chris Collingwood produces paintings ranging from topics of the Napoleonic War to portraits of great military leaders. He is also a painter of pirates which he particularly enjoys out of all his topics. He is influenced by Meissonier and De Neuville and his style reflects on the techniques of the old masters.

I stumbled across this artist while getting influence for my pirate characters. His work is particularly useful for my evil pirate with the hair/beards and extravagant pirate dress, I just need to add that evil look about then especially around their eyes.

The Concluding Escapade Script 1.0

Here is my story script and I'm really happy with it! I used the myUCA resources 'Writing & Presenting Your Script' and the exemplar 'Toy Story Script' to make sure I got the layout right and included the correct things. I now officially know that you don't put camera directions in this type of script!

There is one part of the script that I'm not sure is needed, the part where the second ship is shown. Its a clip that could be short or long, if its short it might not show enough and it being long could make it harder for the story to fit into 1 minute. I'm wondering if it might be better to go from the clunk of the grappling hook on the ship straight to the thud of Deleo's boot on the deck. For some reason the noises seem like they could link nicely rather than being separated by the shot of the second ship. This is something I'm going to have to explore some more before making a final decision.
