Animation Lessons- Corrections

Here are my corrections for Meg's Lessons. Two of them are just little tweaks but the chair one I did again completely as it just didn't work well.


Made the ball stay on the ground for 1/2 more frames to stop it lifting up too quickly for the bounce.


Reduced the squash of the ball when it lands on the ground.

Giddy Line 10 Second Animation & Titles

Here is my finished line animation for the final animation last Friday. This has been really helpful in preparation for my final animation in that figuring out how many frames movement in betweens cover to get the right feel such as being dizzy. I started with the line having very few frames for this emotion and it didn't look dizzy, after adding a few in it looks a lot better. I tried to have my line become part of my titles at the end with it taking the place of the 'I'.

Animation Workshop Homework: Key frames and establishing the placing of the character

Last Friday Meg asked us to produce 3 frames that summed up our stories so I thought the best way to do this would be by drawing a frame for each act. I picked part of the scene when Webster is wooing Delilah, the kiss and Webster celebrating with a flip. The only thing that Meg and I both noticed is that all three frames are straight on shots so I'm going to keep referencing these when doing my storyboard again to remind me to stop the static camera!

Next she asked us to produce 6 frames which would establish where our character/s are placed in the scene, so I started with a far street view of the florist's and gradually panned in until you go through the window to where Webster is. I know that most of these shots will not be used in my final animation mostly because it will just unnecessarily complicate things but it was a really useful exercise in allowing us to see in our minds the journey to our characters.

Animation Workshop Homework: Giddy Walk Cycle

When it comes to a giddy walk cycle there are many ways in which it can be giddy, but seen as this is a walk not a dance as such I thought I would go for the dreamer description of a giddy person and then I thought of a light and airy skip. It has taken me a while to sort out as I have been battling to get it right, a skip being a bit different to a walk but it's finally done!

Animation Workshop: Chair/Standing Up Animation

Here's my animation finished from last Friday's lesson of Meg/a figure standing up. I tried to show her pushing herself up at one point so the shoulders get higher, I do think I could do this much better if I practised again.

Animation Workshop: Week 2

On Friday we continued with gesture drawing before doing the standing up animation exercise, but this time we drew one gesture then had to guess and draw the gesture we thought the model could do next from that position. It was really interesting trying to draw a gesture that wasn't in front of you. We then did blind gestures where we had the model do 3 or 4 poses and we had to try and remember them then draw them once the model had sat down, I think I did pretty well at this because I remembered all of the poses. Finally we had someone acting out an action such as hitting a golf ball or throwing a ball and we had to overlay the key poses, so the first and last movement. These drawings looked pretty crazy!

At one point in the lesson Meg told me to try and loosen up even more, using one line/scribble to try and get the whole figure on the page at once.

Animation Workshop Homework: 10 a day gesture practice

Here are all my gesture drawings homework together from Saturday onwards. I think I'm getting the hang of it, working from the inside out was the struggle but I found using shapes from the inside of the body to construct helped, also the short amount of time we were meant to do each in means we get loads of scribbles which actually do help show the gesture. I thought I would try something different and chuck away the pencil and use Biro instead. This really helped me loosen up and I'll definitely be trying it again!

Animation Workshop: Object Morphing

Here is the morphing from Friday! We couldn't manage to get our whole group together to finish it off so it's just Anita and my work. Amrit's chair to my pot plant to Anita's blimp.

Animation Workshop Homework: Part 2 'Boulder' Ball

Now the 'boulder' ball, this one seemed harder because you haven't got the regular bounce but rather are trying to make it look heavier but I've given it a shot!

Unit 5 Animation Workshop: Week 1

Last Friday we had our first animation workshop with Meg Bisineer. It was extremely different and I was really nervous and not sure what I was doing was right but after a little while I got into it and think I properly know what a gesture drawing is now doh!

We started off by drawing scrunched up pieces of paper without looking at the page, we then tried to apply a gesture to them.

I think this came out pretty well considering we weren't allowed to look at the page!

My gesture for the scrunched up paper seems to be grumpy, as if it's hunched over.

We then took it in turns to model for a gesture drawing, mine started off really strange because I was unsure how to draw it without drawing the outline but then they started to come together.





I'll be posting the object morph from the lesson tomorrow when we've finished putting it together.
