Perspective Practice in Maya

Well my knowledge in perspective has seemed to be battling with me recently, it's definitely something I would like to continue to practice with after this unit because it is such an important tool. Going to start up a good collection of books and just draw loads of different perspectives anywhere and everywhere including those boring commuting journeys!

Getting the perspective and composition right for my underwater cemetery has especially proved a pain and has really been irritating and stopping me from developing things but after a chat with Phil he said to think more about garden design and the idea of a path of that you cannot see straight through... you have to take the journey to find the path, looking past obstacles rather than a big open space.
Tom Beg also suggested using Maya to defeat that nasty perspective so that's what I've been doing.


What I need to know is if this is better than what I had? The big upright plains represent curtains of kelp and the monuments are represented by the pillar like shapes however, I am not going for a conventional headstone approach more like bog wood these are just to help my perspective.

That's actually a very good idea! I would have never thought of studying perspective in this way. I should have to try it myself.
